Manufacturing and processing industry of mechanical equipment is one which has good development tendency and quick economic benefit increase in the near future. With the eastward movement of Tiangang and Tiantie projects as well as the strong industry foundation formed by Big Seamless Steel Pipe, downstream of Haihe has gradually become metallurgical industry base of Tianjin. Because Jinnan Development Area nears by edge of the industry base, it introduced a lot of mechanical equipment manufacturing and processing enterprises with large investment scale and good economic benefits. So far, there are a total of 55 enterprises for this type, coving several varieties as mechanical parts, cold rolled thin plate, petroleum casing pipe and petroleum bit, etc. The advanced processing output of steel reach to 5 Million tons and the production value accounts for approximately 30% of that of the Development Area. At the same time of developing manufacturing industry for mechanical equipment, Jinnan Development Area makes efforts to develop trade and logistics industry of metal products. It cooperated with Shanghai Longna Group and established a Modern Logistics Park with a total investment of ￥0.3 Billion ( this has been listed into 2007 Tianjin focus construction projects). The park can attract all kinds of steel trade enterprises for 400—500 with an total trade amount of ￥100 Billions and tax of about 0.8 ￥Billion. This indeed actualized special operation mode integrating research & development, processing, sales, storage and transportation. 

Jinnan Development Area will continue to supporting advantages of surrounding roads, railways, high-speed roads and ports to form development mode integrating research & development, production, processing, trade and storage, etc; to build trade’ logistics and storage platform for metal products and establish modern logistics parks; to construct research & development demonstration area, particular area for special steel material, storage, processing, dispatching, port transfer and entertainment areas; to construct all-round parks with multi functions. Focus on developing logistics parks, meanwhile, it will exert the industry advantages of mechanical equipment with features and give prominence to promote the development of metal supporting products for petrochemical use as petroleum casing tube, bit and drill stem, etc.
